GRANT OF POLITICAL SUFFERER – Families of deceased political Sufferers – Defined.

Under the scheme of assignment of lands to political sufferers sanctioned in the G.O first read above, the ‘families’ of those who have died in the political movements and of those who have taken part in these movements but subsequently died are eligible for grant of land. In the second G.O. read above the Government directed that the concession intended for the families of the deceased political sufferers should not be constructed to mean that it was heritable from the political sufferer by his legal heirs and by the legal heirs of such heirs. The question has been raised to which persons related to the deceased political sufferer should be considered to be his ‘family’ for the purpose of grant of land under the scheme referred above. The Government direct that widow mothers, wives, sons, unmarried daughters and minor brothers of deceased political sufferers will be eligible for the grant of the land due to deceased political sufferer, Orders of the Government should be taken if in any other case the Collector considers the grant of the land necessary.
