Description
The Government of Telangana, vide G.O.Ms.No. 33, General Administration (Ser.B) Department, dated 06.03.2026, has issued amendments to the Telangana Ministerial Service Rules, 1998. The amendments are mainly based on proposals submitted by the Director General of Police, Telangana. The Government has revised Rule 4(ii)(f) to clearly specify the appointing authorities for various ministerial posts in the Police Department. The posts include Superintendents, Senior Assistants, Stenographers, and other equivalent categories across different zones. The appointing authorities are defined zone-wise, primarily assigning powers to the Deputy Inspectors General of Police and other competent officers. Further, amendments have been made to Rule 13 by inserting provisions related to promotion, appointment by transfer, and seniority. The concept of “Unit of Appointment” has been clearly defined for different categories of posts. For Junior Assistant and equivalent posts, the unit is specified as Police Districts, Commissionerates, Battalions, and Training Colleges. For higher categories like Senior Assistants and Office Superintendents, the unit of appointment is defined at the zonal level. These amendments aim to bring clarity, uniformity, and administrative efficiency in recruitment and service matters in the Police Department
